The adidas P.O.D. System 3.1 first leaked much earlier this year. Now, we are finally getting a full look at the latest Boost silhouette to join the Three Stripe arsenal. Check out the core black colorway, launching next week.

The adidas P.O.D. is going to turn a lot of heads on foot this year. The new silhouette appears to utilize design elements from multiple adidas models, creating a wild-looking sneaker with plenty of room for interesting color blocking or collaborative interpretation. The upper is constructed from multiple pieces using a varying range of materials. In the forefoot, a thin breathable knit lines the toecap to give the wearer’s toes some room to wiggle and provide airflow. The toecap is then stitched to a larger knit piece that covers both the lateral and medial sides of the sneaker as well as the tongue. The knit is reinforced with extra layers around the heel to provide a more locked-in feel and long-term comfort. The sole is the highlight of the shoe, balancing adidas’ most comfortable midsole technologies for an idyllic stride.

The new P.O.D. midsole tooling is reminiscent of both the recent adidas Prophere, and last year’s EQT Cushion ADV. A thick layer of Boost provides all the cushion you’ll need in the heel, while the forefoot is protected by dual-density EVA rubber. Like the Prophere, there is a gap between the two sole technologies around where the wearer’s arch will sit. Bridging this gap is a stiffer piece of rubber, intended to provide support for the foot while maintaining the flexibility provided by the arch gap.

The adidas P.O.D. System 3.1 will make its debut next weekend on June 16th, 2018. The core black colorway is the first to drop, retailing for $130 from adidas.
