adidas is bringing back the ZX franchise in 2018. Following the release of the ZX500 RM, ZX930 x EQT, and with the Futurecraft ZX release slowly approaching, we finally have word that the OG ZX4000 will return in stunning retro fashion this season.

The adidas ZX family is the stuff of legends among adidas fans. The longtime running line was first established in the 80’s and quickly cemented itself as one of the most highly performing sneaker franchises of all time. As a result, the ZX family has become a bit of a collector’s dream with the endless string of silhouettes and colorways that were produced over the years. In turn, this is also a good resource for adidas to utilize when they want to tell the stories of their past, which it appears they have left at this year.

2018 saw the release of adidas’ first ZX shoe with Boost, an innovation that many sneakerheads expected for some time now. What we didn’t expect was that the Three Stripes would take it one step further, later releasing the legendary ZX4000 with their new Futurecraft 4D technology. Additionally, we now know that the ZX4000 will finally return in all of its original glory. The retro iteration will release in the stellar white and blue color scheme that many remember as the original.

While an official release date has not yet been announced, the retro iteration of the adidas ZX4000 “OG” is expected to release alongside the Futurecraft 4D pair later this year. The timeless colorway is expected to retail for about $120, making this an easy pickup for proper adidas heads.
