Jordan Brand has been dropping heat all year long, and they are not letting up. This week, Jordan and Nike have unveiled their latest project together, which pits legendary Jordan silhouettes in classic Nike colorways.
The collaborative Nike and Air Jordan “Icons” Collection has slowly been leaked over the course of the year, we just didn’t quite realize it. The first clue came in the form of the Air Jordan 6, which for some time had been referred to as the “Tinker” iteration in different leaks. Next, the Air Jordan 10 surfaced in a “Tinker”-themed colorway, leading to speculation that the legendary designer would be giving his unique take on a handful on shoes. Instead, we now know that a handful of new Air Jordan colorways are being inspired by classic Nike shoes.
The “Icons” collection was recently revealed in full, giving us a our best look yet at the new collection. While the Jordan 6 & 10 have easy to spot influences in the Air Trainer 2 SC and Huarache Light, the inspiration for the Jordan 3 and 8 from the pack is a little less clear. First, the Jordan 3 takes on a minimal “Chlorophyll” colorway themed after the Air Trainer, while the Jordan 8 shows stark resemblances to the old school Air Raid.
