When Tinker Hatfield designed the Nike Air Max 1 he drew inspiration from the Centre Pompidou in Paris, a building that placed a skeleton of interior tubes and mechanical systems on its exterior for a different and unique look. Now Nike will be releasing a new Air Max 1 collection inspired by the structure.

Dubbed the “By Day” and “By Night” colorways, the “By Day” pair features a Pure Platinum/Royal Blue-White color combination on the upper that is constructed out of leather and suede. This pair is highlighted by colored lines running along its contours that are meant to represent the colorful pipes that lined the outside of the Centre Pompidou. Next we have the “By Night” colorway which is meant represent the appearance of the Centre Pompidou during the night time as the shoe features a an all-grey leather and suede upper with subtle hits of black. Finishing details on both pairs include translucent outsoles with special graphics and a 3 P’s logo that stand for Paris, Pompidou, and pipes.

Look for both of these Nike Air Max 1 colorways to release on September 20th at select Nike Sportswear retailers in limited quantities.
