The Boston Super is an incredibly important part of adidas history. Originally released in 1984 especially for the Boston Marathon, the silhouette was known for its sleek, aerodynamic look and lightweight comfort. While not particularly futuristic, the Boston Super did include several of adidas’ most enticing technologies at the time, including dual-density EVA bricks. Since the original release, adidas has continued to produce new iterations of the Boston shoe on a yearly basis, premiering the new models at their home of the Boston Marathon. This year, however, adidas is going a different direction with the Super. In 2015, the Three Stripes released the NMD, a historic sneaker inspired heavily by three of their archival models, including the Boston Super. As a part of their new Hybrid series, adidas is mixing uppers and midsole from the past and present, creating beautiful new silhouettes with aesthetic features for every Three Stripes fan. The initial colorway of the Boston Super with an NMD_R1 sole will be the silhouettes OG Onix color scheme, painting the shoe in shades of grey with minimal red accents.
