adidas Consortium & The Next Door Celebrate Avignon’s Theater History With a New Project

adidas Consortium continues their tradition of globe-trotting collaborations this month with the announcement of a new project with The Next Door. Inspired by their hometown of Avignon, the new project reworks the A.R. Trainer and SC Premiere in luxurious new offerings.

adidas’ Consortium release have scaled back significantly in the past two years, returning the brand’s next-level design sector to a more limited release schedule. While past years have focused on monthly projects like 2016’s World Tour or 2017’s Sneaker Exchange, the last two years have featured Consortium project dropping randomly, as they should be. This week, the brand has announced the latest in its line of premium collaborations, this time tapping France’s The Next Door to tell the story of their hometown, Avignon.

The Next Door has delivered one of the best Consortium releases we’ve seen in the past year. Highlighting the SC Premiere and A.R. Trainer as their canvasses, the project takes inspiration from Avignon’s rich history of theater, with each shoe taking on one of the dual faces of comedy and tragedy. First up, the A.R Trainer is the face of comedy, taking colorful inspiration from harlequin costumes throughout history. On the other side of the things, the SC Premiere is dressed in shades of white and accented by a deep Cardinal Red, which symbolizes the stage’s final curtains.
